Is there a way to allow the Signalhound to go to sleep? Even if no applications are running, or if Spike is running in “Idle” mode, my BB60C keeps a pretty steady 50 degrees C.
I’d like to not crawl behind my machine to pull USB cables after each use. 🙂

Unfortunately the device does not have an idle mode. Once plugged in it will draw ~6W regardless of whether is it making a measurement or not. The only way to reduce power consumption is to unplug the unit. The 50C idle temps will not hurt the unit, but I understand it may be undesirable for other reasons. If you want it to be unpowered while not in use, consider a powered hub you could also keep on your desktop. Some hubs have buttons that allow you to turn off that port.

25C above external is a big delta. Is the unit in a drawer or positioned in a tight spot? A small amount of air flow could drastically change the internal temperature.
We calibrate the BB60C in an environmental chamber which has high air flow via several fans. The internal temperature is typically ~10C above external in the chamber. Meaning, the highest internal temperature we are calibrating at is ~75C.
Given your current setup, you could operate to 50C external and still be within calibration. The device will continue to operate above that, although potentially outside the specified performance.
