micro-usb connector support

I don’t like those fragile micro-usb connectors. I have too many of them already broken by children on a gadgets and usb cables in my home.

Spent 20minutes with caliper and simple cad drawing, then 20minutes of work on cnc machine, result is seen on pictures. Material is a piece of old textolite block, it doesn’t look nice, but mills much easier than aluminum and hard enough for this task.
I think the same support can be made on 3d printer (but I don’t know how to prepare files for it).

Hi Ivan,

Yes, we agree that the micro-usb 3.0 connectors are very fragile and they have given us much grief. We have recently introduced a locking cable for newer BB60s which has a similar effect as your solution. The locking connector unfortunately cannot be fashioned onto older boards as it required a slight board redesign to make room for the new end plate. We are examining the larger USB type B connector for future designs.

I really like the new connector with the screw locking. The only thing that could be improved would be to make it a 2 meter cable.
