    Well the SA & TG came in yesterday and I’m in the process of ‘getting-acquainted’ with all the bells and whistles. I printed the manuals and now will do some studying and be back later when I get stuck. Great community here, I’m looking forward to learning more. Mike.

    Thanks guys for all your inputs. I got confused when hendorg said the SA would treat the fixed sig gen as a spike and remove it. Then Andy mentioned max hold and that cinched it. Bottom line for me is I want to start off simple and then get the TG at a later date, should I be doing a lot of ‘sweeping’.

    Thanks John, the reason I was asking about a sig gen vs a tracking gen is that I already have a 35MHz to 4.4GHz sig gen. I will continue looking for more info regarding your advice. Again thanks.
